The A21 Campaign is passionately committed to abolishing slavery everywhere, forever, focussing our efforts on eliminating human trafficking.


Our goals include:

• Identifying and rehabilitating survivors
• Raising awareness and educating at-risk persons
• Identifying and assisting in the prosecution of traffickers

 

Overview: 

A21 is looking for individuals who are equally passionate about this cause to partner and volunteer with us for agreed periods of time. This could be for 3 to 12 months or a short term commitment. As a valuable member of our team, an unpaid volunteer will do everything they can to achieve our goals, within the limitations of their specific project or allocated role. Please understand that submitting this application does NOT guarantee you a position as a volunteer, and that A21 has full discretion to select whom we feel to be the most appropriate candidate.

As part of the procedure for processing your application and evaluating the level of suitability for this volunteer position, A21 may obtain an investigative report. This report may include information gathered through personal interviews with third parties, such as prior employers, family members, and business associates with whom an applicant is acquainted. Further details are specified in the reference section of this application. Inquiries may also include information regarding character, general reputation, and personal characteristics.
 

Current Opportunities:


Part-time & Full-time Volunteers
  • Part-time volunteers are individuals who are willing to commit a minimum of 15 hours per week for a minimum of two terms as outlined below.
  • Full-time volunteers are individuals who are willing to commit full time (40 hours per week) for a minimum of one term as outlined below.

Volunteer Tasks & Roles:
  • Researching and creating resources for survivors: the type of resources vary on a case by case basis
  • Assisting aftercare staff with various projects and errands
  • Assisting aftercare staff with survivor appointments, as needed and appropriate
  • Creating care packages for survivors
  • Designing graphics for various aftercare materials
  • Data entry and correspondence with other organizations
  • Partake in A21 initiatives happening locally
  • Office organization and upkeep
  • Administration
  • Graphic design


Term Dates:

  • Term: Spring 2025 (January 14 - May 9)

  • Term: Summer 2025 (May 13 - August 15)

  • Term: Fall 2025 (August 19 - December 19)

Requirements:

  • 18+ years old
  • Volunteers must be able to read and write in English
  • Volunteers must be US citizens or have a current Visa
  • Applicants must be able to commit to the part-time or full-time requirements as listed above. Please note: The vast majority of our work takes place during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm Eastern).
  • Applicants must be able to commit to the full intake term as posted above

Q: What is required to apply?

A:

  • Background check consent form: This form is to be filled out by the applicant and will be used and paid for by A21 to run a background check on them.
  • 2 Interviews: By invite only

Q: Can I get a university internship credit for volunteering?

A: At this time, we offer unpaid volunteer positions that can be considered for school accreditation. However, outside of that we do not offer any sort of internship. As all universities have different requirements for internship credits, please send us your universities internship program requirements ahead of time to see if it aligns with our volunteer program. You can send these to volunteer.ec@a21.org.

 

Q: I cannot volunteer for the entire term and/or I will be coming late/leaving early– will I still be accepted into the program?

A: Due to the importance of the work involved and the large amount of applications we receive, we are unable to consider individuals who are not able to commit to the full term and the required hours.

 

Q: Do you accept international applicants?

A: Yes! A21 in Charlotte, North Carolina accepts international applicants, however, there are a few things to be aware of if you are applying from overseas:

  • International applicants must be able to read and write in English.
  • International applicants are required to pay all costs associated with volunteering, including, but not limited to travel, accommodation, transportation and visa costs. 
  • International applicants are responsible for obtaining all visa requirements to volunteer with A21 in Charlotte. 

 

Q: What can I expect for the interviews?

A: The interviews are A21’s opportunity to get to know you, your heart for A21, and your experience in the workplace; we will also ask several questions pertaining to your knowledge about A21 and human trafficking. If you have any questions that have not been answered with information on the A21 website, please come prepared to ask those questions in the interviews.

Interviews are held within one hour time slots Monday - Friday 9am-5pm Eastern Time zone for the United States. Please make sure to email us at volunteer.ec@a21.org to reschedule your interview if the interview time is not compatible with your time zone.

 

Q: Can I change the term I applied for? 

A: You may change the term for which you’ve applied, as long as the term stays within one year of your online application submission. Beyond one year, you will need to reapply online for the desired term. However, acceptance is contingent on positions available.

 

Q: When will I hear back from A21 about my application?

A: Due to the time it takes to process applications, the A21 team will begin reviewing all applications after the application deadline. If we move forward with your application, you will also receive more information regarding orientation and training, options for housing, transportation, food, cost of living, and paperwork needed to volunteer in the US (if you are an International Applicant).
